Up

A genus of about 150 species, these gesneriads are relatively new to hobbyists, most in cultivation for less than 20 years.   Because of their forgiving temperament, growth habit, and blooming, they have very quickly become very popular among hobbyists world-wide.  Almost every collector of African violets now grows at least one.

Chiritas produce thick leaves in a flat rosette, and bear trumpet-like blooms above on upright stems.  Culture is same as for violets, but they can be more tolerant of neglect.

"COLLECTOR'S TREASURE"

These are varieties from other hybridizers or "discontinued" varieties that no longer appear in our catalog (some are favorites of ours that just never seemed to sell very well but we still insist on growing).  Availability of these varieties is always uncertain, so list substitutes--we won't delay orders awaiting their availability.
