cupreata

The species many people know as the "chocolate soldier" or "flame violet" plant, it is in the parentage of many episcia hybrids.  A lovely plant with quilted, chocolate leaves having broad silver veining in center and orange-red blooms.  An easy grower than can make a spectacular display.

Episcia cupreata is a visual feast!

Can be grown as an hanging basket, or with a little judicious pruning of runners can be grown as a more contained and mounded plant in a broad, flat saucer of bulb pan. Easier culture than most - don't overlook this variety if you are just starting out with episcias.

So happy to have a Cupreata again!

Was given an Episcia long, long ago and loved it! It was such a beautiful plant but unfortunately it didn't survive my move to foggy San Francisco. Thank you Violet Barn for cultivating these plants and for the careful packaging. It arrived just before a hot week in late June and it is bringing me such joy! It's been a little over a month since it arrived and the Cupreata looks happy and healthy. It has already developed two sets of leaves and the flowers look like they're ready to bloom. Definitely planning to purchase another plant to pair up in a terrarium for the winter. Thank you again for you passion for these plants!

Cupreata

This was the first Episcia that I grew. Beautiful rich looking leaves and very striking, abundant blooms.
