Interesting
This is a follow up to my review of 8/14/14. I recently rooted a leaf of Black Pearl Sport. From one leaf, I had 4 babies. 1 baby is true to Black Pearl Sport. The other three babies reverted back to Black Pearl. I’m a novice at rooting leaves, so don’t know if this is common, but I thought it was interesting. I love both versions of the plant.
Unstable
This is a great violet, but it is unstable. It reverts to its parent Black Pearl after few blooms. It is possible to grow it again if you root the lightest leave.
EK Black Pearl Sport = EK Gray Ocean
I’ve seen pictures of this AV online before, but always passed it by because I though it was drab looking. However, I was at a plant festival this weekend and was able to see several of these in person. It is a gorgeous plant! Mine (yes, I had to buy one!) has deep purple mixed with white in varying amounts on each flower. I love the contrast! The flowers are truly double, full, large, and anything but drab!
Waiting
I received this one healthy but managed to get mites on it. I have given it a hot bath, changed its soil and have it in a Ziploc bag. I also put down a couple leaves so that I can grow new ones. I have not been able to see any blooms yet but I am hoping soon. I somehow managed to get a kite infestation and lost many plants. Maybe they are under control now. I have over 50 baby African violets in Ziploc bags.

My very favorite african violet - gorgeous large purple ruffles against dark green foliage - blooms wonderfully! Highly recommended!

Got the Violet a month ago and the Violet is starting to grow a little bit, very happy and can’t wait to see the flower. Their shipping is absolutely perfect all the plants arrived safe and no leaf damage. Love Violet barn I will be ordering from them from now on.
Thriving plant
Received my plant a couple of months ago. It is growing very well and has several buds forming. Looking forward to the flowers. Very nice plants from violet barn. My other plants have been true to color and all healthy.

Magnificent blooms
This is actually a registered sport of 'Black Pearl' and is called 'Sedoy Okean', which translates to 'Gray-haired Ocean'. The blooms are just magnificent, strikingly beautiful. It bloomed repeatedly for me since I ordered it here and is about to bloom again now and I am anticipating another amazing show!
Lovely, healthy plant!
The violet I received was in pristine condition and looked wonderfully healthy. Although this one wasn’t in flower/bud when it arrived, I will be eagerly awaiting its blossoms :) So far it’s been growing very fast, so hopefully that’ll come soon!

EK Black Pearl Sport has gorgeous, large, ruffled blooms. The plant arrived in great shape and began blooming a few months later. It has been blooming continuously ever since.

I got this as my freeze, was so surprised when I looked up what it will look like. I'm excited to watch it grow!
I'm in love.........
I learned a hard lesson. Had a fan on in hot summer and lost all my violets. Didn't know they don't like drafts. My new Black Pearl out did itself on the first bloom. Six 2in (I measured them and took pictures) blooms came on this not fully grown 8 in plant. Had to prop up the small pot from tipping over. I'm ready to trans plant into larger pot and now 2 more are ready to open up. Black Pearl is a fantastic bloomer and healthy plant and I'm in love with the gorgeous blooms.

I'm bought my second plant because the first one with the huge bloom unfortunately was in a draft and the leaves curled and the plant did not flourish. I did not know AVs do NOT like fans or changes in their environment I learned the had way. Hence, the second plant. I completely fell in love with Black Pearl and had to have another. The picture is okay but does not do it justice. Buy one...you will love it.

EK Black Pearl is a keeper!
Got this in April of this year, and it is currently covered with blooms. Each flower is huge and full of ruffles, and the color is exquisite. Seems to be a healthy plant and eager grower, doing very well under lights 13 hours per day. Love this violet, it is just beautiful.
Heavy bloomer
Their selection of Russians is amazing, I myself have 70 varieties of Russians and this one is one of my favs. Heavy bloomer and shapes very well.

If you like full flowers ,this is the one to have. It really does look like a carnation. The colors of purple and white were evenly blended. Dianne B.

Highly recommend
I obtained this plant a little under a year ago and, it is already a foot across! The flowers are a little more white than the picture shows but they are huge and very prolific.
Black Pearl
Received this in my first order it arrived with a bloom and is in great shape. My plants were packed very well and looked great. They were all definitely top quality plants. Making my second order for Mother's Day gifts. Would recommend to anyone and everyone.
My Favorite
I am fairly new to African Violets. Last year I decided to give them a try and ordered eight different varieties - this is my favorite. Since I ordered them at the beginning of fall, it took a while for any of them to bloom. Out of 8 plants 6 survived and are thriving. This one has the most magnificent blooms. They are huge. The plant is beautifully symmetrical, and blooms continuously. My flowers are a much darker purple than the picture, almost black with a lighter blue purple accent. There is no white or pink - but it is beautiful.

This is a beautiful. I have been looking for the Black Pearl with the black flowers. Do you have any input on that . I think the name is Mac's Black Pearl.

Huge!
Just measured a fully-opened bloom: 2 inches across! The photo does not do it justice. Luscious purple/lavender coloration, with lots of blossoms. Have only had it for less than three months, but it is very healthy, being grown under only natural light right now.

Multiplies like rabbits. After only 4 months of receiving a small plant, I have given away 3 suckers that had grown into 4 inch plants in 30 days or so. And I have 3 pots of babies that need separating. It blooms continuously, under lights, and is just beautiful. I am hooked on the Russian varieties.
