Delicate yet steady

Deinostigma tamiana is a great and forgiving little gesneriad that blooms freely, sets seed and flowers fairly quickly when grown from it, and survives accidents and unfavorable conditions well. It does have a tendency to get kind of long and weedy-looking in terms of both petioles and neck, so I frequently groom and repot it like I would with a mini violet. A solid addition for any violet grower.

Nice plant

Arrived in great shape. Excited for this plant to bloom. Looks every much like an African Violet and is adjusting well to wicking.

Tamiana - Perfect!

This plant is fantastic! Grows great and blooms a lot--you have to have this for your collection! Get two--they stay small!

Reliable little powerhouse!

This plant is like the energizer bunny of gesneriads! It just keeps going, and going! Very easy to grow, and stays in near constant bloom. The blossoms easily set seed too! Everyone should have this in their collection!

Perfect little plant!

This plant was one of three I purchased in my first order from Violet Barn. It arrived remarkably packaged and the tiny, delicate leaves were all in perfect condition. My plant came with two full rows of leaves and a third row developing in the crown. There were no buds or flowers but I know it will not be long before this little one is in full bloom! Until it blooms it is sure to be easily confused with a young African violet as the leaf shape and type is quite similar. A must have plant for your collection!

This is my first time ordering I have searched the internet for days and hours now and these plants are exactly what I'm looking for I can't wait to receive them

So tiny!

This is a wonderful little plant. The blooms are pretty and long lasting. I am ordering 2 more, as they are small enough to have a couple on my desk at work.

Wonderful!

This plant was the first of many plants I've bought from The Violet barn 10 years ago, and it is fantastic. It is an easy grower, and constant bloomer. Very hardy too. Great for those of us who forget to water from time to time :-)

Very unusual!

This little plant is absolutely adorable and is about to bloom with at least three or four blossoms per bud. It may be small but it is certainly showy!

Love her

Tamiana came in full bud and is already blooming. So easy I can't believe it.Delicate and lovely, areal winner.

SO Adorable

I lost this plant due to life events and it was one of the first that I am replacing as I miss it terribly. It is one of the least demanding and most rewarding plants to grow on a windowsill and always happy.

Best of the Primulinas

I have 3 of these and simply can't get enough. I grow these in the same pot and the bloomng is just spectacular. I don't generally grow prinulinas but I wouldn't be without this one in my collection.

Great little plant

The Chirita tamiana is a great little plant. I keep mine under a ventilated dome and it's always blooming and producing seed pods. If you like to share seed with others this plant is very easy to do that with. It stays a nice size, something like an African violet and is very easy to care for.

Chirita Tamiana

I can't say enough about this little gem with a big heart. It gives in the way of blooms constantly and then propagates itself quite a bit to give away little starters. I have given away several times. When we made the move from TN to FL it was during the winter time and during freezing temperatures. I thought I had lost it as I only had one stalk with a few leaves on it so I cut down the other bare stalks and waited with hope. Sure enough, it is coming back better than ever. I absolutely love the little flowers. Great plant.

The Best!

This little chirita is one of the very best windowsill plants I grow. I grow it on a wick in my violet mix, and it is very forgiving. It is easy to grow from seed, if you want more plants to share with friends. It is a constant bloomer with wildflower grace. I especially like the dark green, shiny leaves. Looks good as a single rosette or multiple plants to a pot.

little gem

These little guys are highly recommended to try at least once. They are super-tiny and great bloomers. If you aren't fastidious about removing spent blooms, like me, you may soon have lots of "volunteers" in neighboring pots where the seeds found a moist spot. My only ding on this great plant is they grow too fast and develop a bare stalk too quickly.

All fun, no work!

Looks good, eager grower, constant bloomer, easy to propagate & share (everyone thinks it's an African Violet until the first buds form) small, beautiful!

Greg Meissner Nov 09 2011, 20:04 PM

easy grower

This was my first, and still the best, of all my chiritas. It blooms constantly and practically grows itself. Highly recommended for a first chirita purchase.

delicate beauty

This lovely little plant brought me memories of walking in the Smoky Mtns. and observing the wildflowers growing all around and the subtle changes as you would change in altitude. No matter what area you come from, this delicate beauty will bring a touch of the wild beauty of nature right to your home. One of the best purchases I've ever made.

Tamiana

A delightful little plant. I received mine recently with 3 buds on it that started blooming 2 days later & has never stopped. Even with a fair sized collection of miniature plants, this little gem stands out.

Janet Oct 05 2011, 18:38 PM

Nice little plant

This plant is easy to grow, flowers almost constantly and stays small. Definitely a good plant to add to the collection and a real space saver.
