Beg. Escargot

Easily our best seller.  Aptly named for its large sworls of silver, then green, with very fuzzy stems.  More upright grower.  Very show, the first to sell from our shop or at shows.

Silver Whorls

The silver whorls of this begonia provide unique interest in my indoor garden. It is definitely worth adding to the indoor "landscape".

Oh no I killed him

Loved this beauty, people often asked where I got the cool twirly plant. But I lost him in a heat wave.

SWIRLY PERFECTION

I love this begonia. It can be a little tricky about humidity, but when it's happy- WOW. I especially like the very fine, dark pink 'hairs' on the edges of new leaves grown in good light.

Understated elegance!

I am growing this in an open terrarium (fish tank with 18 watt t8 bulb) where it is growing slowly but steadily...more beautiful all the time!

Lovely but I keep killing it too!

Nice to see I'm not the only one having a challenging time with this plant. However, the leaves are so pretty I just have to try again. I'm thankful for the tips others have listed and fingers crossed it will work this time!

Healthy Looking Plant

I received my Escargot begonia about 3 days after ordering it, so A+ on quick turn around. Packing was very impressive: well wrapped, covered, secured and cushioned. It would have taken crushing abuse for any damage to have hurt the plants inside: another A+. I've had my Escargot begonia for about three weeks now. I have not transplanted it yet as I haven't decided how I want to plant it yet. I do have it and two other plants from that order in a small terrarium so they are all getting the humidity and light they need. My Escargot's largest leaf started drying up around its edges after the first week here. I think that's probably due to the change in environments. The other leaves are still very healthy looking. I'm very happy with Violet Barn's plants and shipping. A+ = 5 stars.

Really cool begonia

Really cool begonia. Interesting and beautiful pattern!

Very beautiful plant

I found this particularly difficult to grow but the leaves, with the quirky curl, make the plant a definite purchase for every year. No one seems to mention the pink flowers which are really quite strongly fragrant with a nice rose-like scent.

My Very Favorite

I love this plant. It is so unusual and grows so well in my garden window. Before the fire that destroyed our home, I had propagated and split this plant several times. Friends and company were always asking for starts. Now I'm starting over and this is one of the first plants I want to replace.

A keeper

It took me almost 10 years to find this plant after I saw it at the botanical gardens. With a little care, and time it makes a great show specimen. I lost my original plant and had to get another one. Everyone who sees this one wants a cutting.

Beautiful plant but needs some shade!!

pretty enough to try again

I too seem to kill this beauty, but I will keep trying. I think I may have overwatered then underwatered to compensate and it just shriveled.

Lovely, but I keep killing it

This plant was what first attracted me to house plants years ago, and also the plant that brought me to Robs Violets the first time. Unfortunately I've tried to grow it three times and managed to kill it off each time, it's been a few years, I'm a lot more house plant savvy these days and I suspect overwatering as my problem.

Found it!!!

Saw this item last summer in Bar Harbor and fell in luv w/it. Great looking plant in a container in front of a plant store in the center of town.

Beautiful!

This begonia is quite beautiful with large delicate leaves. I have found that adding humidity helps the plant to stay happy and looking best. Make sure to keep out of direct sun. I would love to give this as a gift, very stunning!
