S shumensis
I absolutely love this av. First I love the round leaves. I love how the edges are tailored like someone took those scalping scissors to the edges of the leaves. They are perfectly round and scalloped. I love the sparce fuzzy hair on the leaves. The blooms are equally perfect. A true violet shape blossom like the wild violets you find growing in your yard. The purple-blueish white flowers have a darker purple center. . This av makes me happy to look at it. And truely happy that it blooms easily. A definite favorite of mine.
I agree…Lower Light for this lovely plant!
I just realized that my shumensis bought last month is displaying signs of receiving too much light, so I moved it to a lower light location. Then looked to see if others also had this experience. The last review mentioned the same thing so just wanted to add my experience to further confirm that shumensis needs lower light. I have many hybrids and also a few species that are doing well in this higher light but it was too strong for shumensis. It’s in sparse bud and has a tight centre with some browning of leaves, and I know it will do much better in the future.
Lower light
I love this little plant, but found that it became very pale and tight centered under my lights with my hybrid violets. I moved it to a lower light area and it and its babies are much happier.
S 3 shumensis species violet
This gorgeous little species violet arrived safely packaged and in perfect condition. There were several healthy flower buds as well. Thank you Violet Barn!
Beautiful
Came packed perfectly. Healthy little violet - can’t wait to see the flowers!
