I’ve been out of violets for a dozen years but back when I had Powder Keg (from Violet Barn) so when I looked to see if I could have this one again I was ecstatic to see it still in stock. I remember it blooming continuously!
Really strong leaves
The color of the leaves are gorgeous and really sturdy! Still waiting for the buds, but the play looks happy
Another “Secretariat”
This violet is big and red and it just keeps on blooming. Wonderful plant that all works together.
Powder Keg 2 - a continuation :)
Reviewed before but forgot to add that the foliage is a very deep green, which really makes the blooms contrast nicely. The leaves grow very symmetrically and evenly layered as they should. Yes, the blooms are fantastic, but for me, it's the foliage that makes it a complete package of success.

Amazing blooms
This is a beautiful african violet. It's always blooming, and it has pretty foliage too.
Powder Keg
This plant has vigorous, very dark foliage and is a good grower. The flower, for me is a dark, burgundy red, a bit more purple than red. The flowers are held well above the foliage. All in all a good addition to any collection.

I ordered this plant in February, it has doubled in size and starting to show buds. I can’t wait!
Amazingly dark foliage!
I bought the plant a few years ago from Violet Barn. The thing I love the most about this plant is it’s foliage! Very dark green and slightly glossy. Blooms a lot with low care. Super recommend for someone looking for a reliable red.
Bloomer
I had one of these many years ago and I killed it when I moved. I got another one this year as I just love the color. I can't really pinpoint the color other than it is a shade of dark red. It has lots of blooms and it hangs in there when it doesn't get watered on time. Powder Keg will hopefully always be part of my collection
Hardy and Beautiful
This is one of the least picky growers I have ever had. I first purchased this plant in 2016 and it seems to take everything in stride. The foliage is symmetrical with very little grooming, the flowers are bold, enthusiastic and long lasting. This is a large plant and I grow it in the window as it seems to enjoy that just as much as under the lights. I can't think of one way to make this plant any better! You won't regret this as part of your collection.

This is a very lovely, elegant plant. The stars nearly matches the foliage. It was one of my favorites, I lost it to mealy bug. I am buying it again.

This violet is one of my favorites. It isn't an overly prolific bloomer, but worth the wait!
Beautiful red blooms
This is one of the best of the reds. The plant grows well and almost always has a mass of those large stunning blooms. My original plant that I bought several years ago blooms as well as its offspring that I grew from leaves. If you love red blooms, Powder Keg won't disappoint!
class act
I was in an accident and couldn't take care of my collection of violets. I lost most of them but Powder Keg came thru with flying colors. It was a little droopy, but after a few days of tender loving care its as beautiful as ever! Love it Love it Love it.
Striking red
Powder keg is a real beauty! The large red, ruffled flowers with whir edges are much prettier than in the picture. It has strong stems which support the flowers well. I love the dark green foliage with red underneath! It adds so much beauty to the plant!!
Powder Keg
If you are someone who loves red violets and big flowers, you will definitely love Powder Keg. I just love the red blossoms with the white edge and backing, it gives a beautiful sight so pleasing to the eyes. Although my plant hasn't bloom in quite a while but once the buds on the violet start to open, look out! They are big, beautiful, and great to always see. I highly recommend this one to anyone.

I purchased several AV's from here last year to give as gifts. They all are doing exceptionally well. So when I asked a friend to choose one for her birthday, it was hands down Powder Keg. Very pretty flowers and stunning foliage.
Spectacular!
This violet is just as spectacular as the photo! I'm a novice violet grower and this violet was one of my first purchases. Great to have so much success right off the bat! Beautiful plant that grew so fast. Blooms frequently and blooms are large, abundant and last forever. Love this violet.
What A Beauty!
This one is Lovely! The flower is so large I don't see how the stem holds it up! The entire plant is exactly as pictured. The leaves have a very strong reverse that is almost identical to the flower color! Arrived in great shape as usual and I am very happy with this one!
Explosive Color
Powder Keg's flowers are so beautiful. The white edge around the maroon petals is so striking.
Ka-boom!
Oh, yeah, Powder Keg will blow you away! I keep one in a 2.5 inch pot, the other in a 3 inch pot. He's a big boy, big leaves & big flowers! He looks just like the photos! The white edge is crisp, never bleeding into the venous-blood red of the petals. My collection feels like its big brother is around when PK is blooming!!
Beautiful, fast growing plant!
Love this violet. Has grown dramatically since I received it. Beautiful foilage, blooms are huge and gorgeous...very healthy plant.

This is one of my favorite violets that I have ever grown. The color of the flower is very unique.
