Never order in the winter
Never order from this place in the winter my plants came damaged from the weather. They should never ship when the weather is so cold . What a waste to pay so much and they come in that condition. VB reply: you requested Priority shipping, which we cannot guarantee in winter. We do this only by Express, which is the default choice, and which you opted out of. If you wish to order by priority AND have us bear the risk, we can do so beginning in April.

This plant has suffered a lot since coming into my hands. I went through a bad breakup and neglected my plants for a while, and this is one of the only plants from my last order that are still hanging on and doing ok. I even moved into the Rocky Mountains and have subjected it to a harsher climate. I decided that since it is still alive, I am going to do my best to take care of it and give it a fighting chance. Just repotted it two days ago. I recommend this plant to anyone who doesn’t have a green thumb.
Update on my 2012 review!
I've gone through many changes and a major move since I previously had Red Lantern. So, this summer I reordered this variety. It now has its first buds and I can hardly wait for them to open! Red Lantern is an older Lyons variety that's well worth adding to our current collections. I would hate to see it vanish like so many older violets have. All my orders this summer and fall have arrived in excellent condition. I love the way the Violet Barn packs! Cheryl Burkley
