My First Ficus & Tiny Plant Experience

I decided to start a terrarium in late March 2025 and purchased several tiny plants from The Violet Barn. I gambled on the weather being OK for US mail service because of my previous experience (buying African Violets) with The Violet Barn's excellent packaging and shipping time to our US PO Box. Luckily, all the tiny plants arrived in good condition in spite of the cold weather and all are doing very well today (08/11/25). The Red Baby Doll Begonia curled some leaves from the cold trip, but held on to them and grew more. The plants are truly small in size and shape and slow growing. The Ficus pumila Quercifolia is a beautiful, tiny creeper and has been easy to grow. I am very happy with the tiny plants I purchased and will recommend others come to The Violet Barn for their assortment of high quality, terrarium plants.

Best Terrarium/Vivarium Plant!!

VERY tiny ivy sometimes called “string of frogs”. Great size for any terrarium, vivarium or fairy garden. Won’t take over. Also hard to find so I was glad to find it at VB!

String of Frogs

This little ivy is the perfect plant for use in even the tiniest terrarium! Is petite and looks perfectly sized in a vivarium or fairy garden too. I truly love it!
